Flying

For many air cadets (but certainly not all), this is why they chose to join - the dream of flying!  In addition to our regular training about aviation, there are some special opportunities we offer that can get you up in the air, or even licensed as a pilot.

01

Ground School

104 is proud to offer an in-person Ground School at the Brantford Airport to help develop an interest in aviation as well as prepare cadets to apply for one of the scholarships. In Ground School cadets learn about Theory of Flight, Meteorology, Air Law, Aviation Careers and much more! Ground School is open to all cadets, whether they are currently applying for a scholarship, plan to in the future, or just have an interest in aviation.

02

Gliding Experiences

1-2 times a year, we are usually able to offer cadets who've never been in a glider the opportunity to experience a glider flight as as passenger, with a trained glider pilot at the controls.

Familiarization Flights

On occasion, our generous community partners give our cadets the opportunity to get aloft.

Summer Training

Some cadets will get the opportunity to travel to a Cadet Training Centre for the summer to learn flying.  Spaces are very limited, but an incredible experience for those who attend.

The Aviation Technology and Aerospace Course offers cadets the chance to lay the groundwork in aerospace studies, airport operations, and the principles of aircraft manufacturing and maintenance. Activities within this program encompass exploring aerospace concepts, learning about aerodrome operations, and gaining insight into aircraft manufacturing and maintenance processes.

The Advanced Aviation Course provides cadets an opportunity to develop as a specialist with the skills and subject matter knowledge required to be an instructor and team leader for aviation activities. Activities include instructional techniques, aviation communication, and meteorology.

The Glider Pilot Training Course (for cadets 16+ who qualify) is a six- or seven-week training program that results in successful candidates graduating with their Transport Canada Glider Pilot License.

The Power Pilot Training Course (for cadets 17+ who qualify) is a seven-week training program that results in successful candidates graduating with their Transport Canada Power Pilot License.
